You have a design for your device's on-screen keyboard, from Figma for instance. We build it with the bsdk Keyboard, ready to use, at a fixed price. You get a keyboard that looks like your template – colours, typeface and key shape, every key state and, if you wish, a layout of your own.

On commissioning on the target hardware: you provide a working board or image, such as a Yocto image with EGLFS. We get the keyboard running on it and test it there. Without a working board or image, it is billed by effort.

The QtWidgets variant is styled with stylesheets. The pressed-key preview and the accents on a held key exist in the QtQuick variant only.

What we need from you

  • Design template in Figma or a comparable tool, with dimensions
  • Key states at least normal and pressed, ideally active as well
  • Icons for the special keys, as SVG
  • Typefaces with a licence that allows embedding them in your product
  • Target resolution(s) and display size
  • Languages the keyboard should offer
  • Frontend QtQuick or QtWidgets, and the Qt version

What you get

  • The finished keyboard as source code (QML or stylesheet, and layouts), ready to include in your application
  • A working sample application with your keyboard
  • Screenshots of every keyboard page at your target resolution

Not included

  • The licence for the bsdk Keyboard. It is purchased separately.
  • Integrating the keyboard into your application
  • New features or changed keyboard behaviour
  • New languages with an input method of their own, such as further non-Latin scripts (on request)

How it works

    We assign the template to a package and confirm the fixed price.

  3. Implementation

    You receive the keyboard with a sample application and screenshots.

  4. Round of corrections

    You collect your comments, we work them in.

  5. Handover

    Source code and sample application go into your project.

Frequently asked questions

My template doesn't show every state. Is that a problem?
No. From package M onwards we add missing states in the style of your template.
Which package fits my template?
If your keyboard is built like an ordinary text keyboard, M is enough. If the arrangement or pages differ clearly from that, it is L. Once we have your template, we tell you bindingly which package applies.
Can I change the design myself later?
Yes. You receive the source code. Colours and typeface are defined in one central place and can be adjusted without touching the keyboard itself.
Will it work on my embedded device?
The bsdk Keyboard needs no window system and runs with EGLFS and LinuxFB. With the option “commissioning on your target hardware” we check it on your device itself.
