Embedded Testrack: real CI/CD on real hardware

We integrate your embedded systems into an automated test infrastructure and drive every release through the actual operating interfaces – touch, CAN, serial, network and more. No simulated mockups, but real user interaction. Without a user, yet 24/7 and with 100% coverage for every single release.

The end of simulated interfaces

For most teams, test automation stops at the hardware. What happens on the real device is checked by hand – rarely, late and never completely. The Embedded Testrack closes exactly that gap: your device sits physically in the rack, is automatically re-flashed on every build, and is operated and measured through its real inputs and outputs. That way you test what your customers actually hold in their hands – not a model of it.

Simulated mockup
  • You test a software model of the interface
  • Timing, driver and hardware bugs stay invisible
  • Manual sign-off, spot checks only
  • Bugs surface out in the field
Embedded Testrack
  • You test the real device with real firmware
  • Timing, drivers and hardware are tested too
  • Fully automated, 24/7, for every release
  • Bugs surface before you ship
Flow diagram of the Embedded Testrack: commit and release are built into an image, automatically deployed to the real device, stimulated through the input interfaces touch, CAN, serial and network, and measured through the output interfaces display, LEDs, CAN, serial and network, followed by an automatic pass/fail verdict in a 24/7 loop.
The test-rack loop: every commit is built, automatically deployed to real hardware, operated through the real input interfaces and measured through the output interfaces – around the clock.
Real interfaces

Operated and measured through real hardware

The same physical interfaces your users rely on are driven and evaluated – with no emulation layer in between.

Input interfaces

Stimulate
  • Touch & capacitive input
  • CAN / CAN-FD
  • Serial (UART / RS-232 / RS-485)
  • Network (Ethernet / IP)
  • GPIO & digital signals

Output interfaces

Capture & measure
  • Display (frame capture & image diff)
  • LEDs & status indicators
  • CAN / CAN-FD
  • Serial (UART / RS-232 / RS-485)
  • Network (Ethernet / IP)

… and further interfaces of your device.

Capabilities

What the test rack makes possible

01

Real CI/CD with hardware

Every commit lands on the real device automatically through your pipeline – with no manual step in between.

02

Automated image deployment

Image builds are flashed and booted automatically. Every test run starts from a defined, fresh system state.

03

Real user interaction

Touch input, key presses and bus messages are triggered for real and the device's response is measured for real – exactly as your users experience it.

04

24/7 without a user

Tests run around the clock, unattended and repeatable – for every single release, with full coverage.

05

Regressions surface instantly

Every release is validated end-to-end on the target hardware. Timing, driver and integration bugs surface before the device ships.

06

Integrated into your toolchain

The test rack plugs into your existing CI/CD pipeline and test frameworks – results land where your team already looks.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Embedded Testrack?
A test infrastructure into which we physically integrate your embedded devices and fully automate them. Every software build is automatically deployed to the real hardware and tested through its real input and output interfaces – with no human in the loop.
How is this different from simulated tests or unit tests?
Unit and integration tests validate your software against a model of its environment. The test rack validates the real device with real firmware through real interfaces. That means timing, drivers, hardware quirks and the interplay of all components are tested too – exactly the classes of bug that stay invisible in simulation.
Which interfaces are supported?
On the input side touch, CAN, serial and network, among others; on the output side display (via frame capture and image comparison), LEDs, CAN, serial and network, among others. We work out which interfaces matter for your device and equip the rack accordingly.
Can the test rack integrate with our existing CI/CD?
Yes. The test rack is designed as an extension of your pipeline: it takes the build artifact, deploys it to the hardware, runs the tests and reports the results back to your CI system and test frameworks.
Which devices is the test rack suitable for?
Embedded systems with physical operating and communication interfaces – from HMI devices with a touch display to controllers with CAN and serial buses. We integrate your specific device into the infrastructure.
